Employee Assistance Fund

Through our negotiations for TAs, we have established an Employee Assistance Fund for our members. This fund is available for members who need reimbursement for UHIP (University Health Insurance Plan) for international students, Childcare, or Vision Care. Dental Care Coverage

Teaching Assistants or student Contract Instructors that do not have access to an exisiting dental plan or where coverage exceeds any coverage they do have. The types of coverage are defined by the CUSA/GSA Greenshield Benefits plan. Please see the application form attached here for details on how much coverage CUPE 4600 provides.

CUPE 4600 TA Advance

An advance of up to $750 is available during the first half of the first month of each semester (September, January, and May) to partially compensate for the lack of a pay cheque in the middle of those months (a double pay cheque is issued by the university at the end of those months). CUPE 4600 TA Emergency Loan

The Employee Assistance Fund provides short-term assistance to graduate teaching assistants with a regular TA position (130 hours per term) experiencing unexpected financial need.  To apply for the loan download the forms from our website, including the required Promissory Note, fill them both out and return both to the Faculty of Graduate Studies & Research. 512 Tory. You can download or print a PDF version of the necessary forms by clicking here.
