Contract Instructor Professional Development Fund
In our last set of negotiations we were able to negotiate an extra $5000 to bring the total $70,000 for the bargaining unit to cover professional development expenses incurred by our members to assist their career as Professors. Examples of the types of expenses covered are: travel for research for conferences; Professional Development Dues; Conference Fees; and Books and Supplies not otherwise covered by the employer.
Members are entitled to up to $800/year under the guidelines of the Fund. Those who receive money one year shall have their applications the following year deferred to make sure there is enough money for newer applicants. With the extra money in the Fund we hope everyone will be able to get reimbursement. The application form is on our website at 4600.cupe.ca.
Contract Instructor Seniority List
Recently, the Union and the Employer reached an arrangement for members to check their seniority points and for the Employer to update the seniority list. This is required under Articles 15.07 of our Collective Agreement (Unit 2). Please check the link below to ensure your seniority points are correct, and for an explanation of how the seniority list works.
Contract Instructor Tuition Waiver
Have you taught 3.0 credits in the past 36 months? Have you worked one contract in the last 12 months?
If you are a Contact Instructor and answered 'yes' to both of these questions then you qualify for tuition fee waiver for Carleton University degree credit work, in a program to which you have been admitted. It doesn't matter if it is as the graduate or undergraduate level, but the waiver is limited to $700 per 12 months.
For more information on any of these benefits, contact CUPE4600@carleton.ca.
